Susanne Maziarz

Susanne Maziarz is a ‘community musician’ with a love and passion for making music with people of all levels of experience and aptitudes.

Much of her experience was garnered through her role as Music Director at Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation (NUUC) where she has led the Spirit Choir and Band, congregational singing, chant, improvisation, and sounding for over 15 years.  She has co-led a monthly interfaith evening (Singing Meditation) for eight years as well as founding a bedside singing group that sings weekly at Michael Garron Hospital in the Palliative Care unit. From exploring the healing properties of sound to creating sacred spaces through music, Susanne is dedicated to helping participants unlock their creativity, discover their authentic voices, and connect with the transcendent power of music.

Susanne studied Active Hope (The Work That Reconnects) through a book club at NUUC, and then helped co-facilitate the following year. As part of the Great Turning, she is called to use her strong singing voice for social change and leads songs of hope and justice at rallies and protests in Toronto.  She leads an activist choir called Common Thread in the Streets to amplify justice voices and to bring these songs to the ears and lips of the public.
